Remote Installation of Z and I Emulator for Windows

Z and I Emulator for Windows supports remote installation using either TivoliĀ® Software Distribution or Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) 2.0 Service Pack 2, or higher. Remote installation and uninstallation can be performed in a normal mode (attended) or silent mode (unattended).

Remote Installation Using SMS

A remote installation using SMS consists of the following steps:

  1. Perform an administrative installation to copy Z and I Emulator for Windows installation files to the network (see Administrative Installation).
  2. Create an SMS package containing the Z and I Emulator for Windows installation software.
  3. Create an SMS job to distribute and install the software package.
Note:
Z and I Emulator for Windows provides a sample SMS file, HCL Z and I Emulator for Windows.sms, for use in creating the SMS package. You can also create your own SMS file. An SMS file is the same as a Package Definition File (PDF) used in previous versions of Microsoft SMS.

Remote Installation Using Active Directory Group Policy

Z and I Emulator for Windows can be distributed automatically to client computers or users via Microsoft Active Drirectory group policy.
