Advanced Protocol
Use the advanced protocol when you have GDDM Version
2 Release 3 or later and are using any of the following operating
systems:
- MVS
- VSE
- VM/SP
- VM/XA SP
Note: The advanced protocol is not supported by the CICS® pseudo-conversational
mode with versions of GDDM earlier than Version 3, and not
by IMS/VS at all. It is, however, supported by the CICS pseudo-conversational
mode with GDDM Version 3 Release 1 or later.
The advanced protocol is equivalent to that used by OS/2-Link, so it supports the same subsystems. However, no download of code from the host system is required for Z and I Emulator for Windows because all the OS/2-Link graphics modules are integrated into the program.
